A little Rant about MySpace VS Facebook

In some ways the changes on MySpace are pretty cool. Now that my computer here at work is updated enough to make app changes more quickly I'm not going to avoid MS like the plague anymore.  But for awhile, with my former computer, the new Myspace pages took what felt like 5 minutes to change any time you wanted upload anything and it wasn't worth the time logging on.  And it's not like you can ask a person for help - you are forced to a forum that takes a million minutes to slog through too.  One day I was so frustrated I removed the link from my website to myspace bcz I no longer wanted to send people to a profile that would be frustrating for them and make me look lame (can't have that!)   But now that things are speeding up a little (which could be only bcz of my new computer) I've remade the link from here to there.  I'm trusting MS to keep working out more kinks.

When Facebook came on the scene I wanted to avoid it.  Mainly because MySpace was more streamlined and still easy to use then and it seemed much more musician friendly than FB.  Also, if you wanted to convey you are serious about your art as a musician MS seemed like the place to be instead of FB which seemed like just social gabbing.  However, I'm learning that a little social interaction that isn't music related is ok for me and it's a great way to connect with family and friends I ordinarily wouldn't get to touch base with.

When MS began its new journey to become like FB causing such a slow down in the process of uploading events, songs and picture, I reluctantly found myself on FB more and more simply bcz their apps were gradually speeding up while MS apps were slowing down.  I noticed too that people who thought MySpace was evil in the years prior had suddenly embraced Facebook for some reason, like now it's ok to be online.  I don't know what they were afraid of, the Evil Internet? Maybe their ability to participate now can be attributed to the evolving process we humans undergo when avoiding something that's new to us.  Some people simply ignore it hoping it will go away, while others who feel they need to spiritualize everything tell you it's evil.  Eventually we all become comfortable with the new idea by virtue of it becoming more familiar and no longer threatening.
