Spring Color Video - Song Story

I actually began writing this song taking a walk on a long country road next to a farmer's field not too far from our former house in Meridian. I was captivated by the newness of the virgin grass pushing its way up through the soil. This song echoes the feelings I have toward keeping a dream alive (a vision for the future) in one's life.  Like the early signs of Spring that stir new hope after the long hardship of winter, the ability in the human spirit to rise up out of darkness and begin yet again, even against all odds, is such a gift.

(The lovely alto harmony is sung by Marla Blaser.)

This is a medley of some of the songs I played at the Idaho Songwriters Showcase on August 10, 2012.

I began to write this song when I was in college and lived in Northend Boise, Idaho and finally finished it in 2005. At that time the restaurant Lucky 13 was still there but has since moved out to East Boise and the Sunray Cafe has replaced it.

First Thursday on November 3rd at Thomas Hammer Coffee in Boise

A song that was part of my solo set at I played at the Cherry Festival 2010.

This song is about the day I made Chicken Soup and blogged about it. Then my friend, Andy Stone left me a comment and suggested I write a song about it and I thought it was a great idea!

This is video to the title song of my 2004 project called Vessel of Gold. It was actually my producer's experiment since he was trying out his then new video camera. It was shot on a plateau called Tablerock which is above the city of Boise. We shot it early in the morning and the young girl is my daughter Ashley.
