I remember that Christmas when Santa brought us skis
You became Instructor on the back roads of Winter
We were all elbows and knees
Oh oh that Christmas, that Christmas Dream

No Stargazing

04:23
Simple Things CD (1998)
Produced by Ian Townend

Story

I began this song when I was in college living in the north end of Boise.  Years passed by and I finally finished it when I was practicing to gig in a few coffee shops and First Thursday events.  It ended up on my Simple Things CD in 1998.  However, I just added the 3rd verse last year so technically it was finished till 2009!

Lyrics

LYRICS:

Verse 1:  From the looks of things the rain is here to stay

The sun reclines in her dreamy hide-away

And I can’t decide if I want to go or stay

From the looks of things the rain is here to stay

Verse 2:  If you were here tonight the rain would be my friend

It would be alright; but I just cannot pretend

You don’t matter now when you are so far away

I can hide my heart behind the rain

C:  NO STARGAZIN TONIGHT

THE MOON AND THE STARS ARE STILL OUT OF SIGHT

OFF INTO DREAMLAND UNTIL DAYLIGHT / NO STARGAZIN TONIGHT

Verse 3:  If you were here tonight my life would be complete

I’d have it all – your love, the rain with me

Then I could rest within your blanket sweet

But you’re distant like thunder, when it’s you I need

REPEAT CHORUS

BRIDGE:  When you look at the stars from a clear night

You feel like anything could happen

With upturned face to the Milkyway

You feel like your dreams can come true / oh oh – where are you?
