Spring Color Project 1993
Produced by Ian Townend
Story
I wrote this song in the 90's about hanging out in Manzanita, Oregon - our favorite coastal town. This recording was made in 1993 when my voice was alot higher! Would love to record it again on a collection of ocean songs and in a key that lends itself to my current vocal range. I wouldn't change anything about the music though - I love the sweet jazz groove of the guitar, even though when I play it live it's on keyboard.
Lyrics
LYRICS:
The wind is high again today But it’s ok – the sun is shining
I came to see the wind surfers play and watch the kites fly high in the sky
Chorus: Manzanita Wind is blowin not quite out of control
If you come to Manzanita, there’s one thing you should know: The wind does blow
Just a little coastal paradise - quaint little town - not much around
Living is easy and really quite nice - old fashioned store with a wooden screen door
Chorus: Manzanita Wind is blowin not quite out of control
If you come to Manzanita, there’s one thing you should know: The wind does blow
Bridge: Funny how an earthly place can make you feel at home
Welcomes you with unseen arms as if you were its own
Always seems so strange to leave like you’re not meant to go
Quietly she reassures you’ll be back before you know
Vivid color- sea and sky - crystal blue and clean bright white
Sun disappears into the night - Wind finally mellows blowin’ just right
C: Manzanita Wind is blowin - calls across the miles
Come, she says, to Manzanita - I’d like to see you smile - Come stay awhile
Tag: Manzanita Wind – blowin again
Manzanita Wind – callin me callin me …
